Pastor's Weekly Recap, week of January 10, 2010

Can there be any doubt as to what awaits us in heaven? After looking at Revelation 4, we can only be more eager about our future. What an amazing sight John saw and heard - how difficult it must have been to put it into words.

Family Recap for January 11, 2010

Meditation verse for these next few weeks come from what is known as “The Bridge.” Isa 53:6 (NIV) “We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.”

From the opening worship set to the closing song, yesterday was a day devoted to worship, the very thing that stands out in the passage we studied.

I would encourage each of you to re-read Revelation 4. What an awesome picture John paints of what the Throne room of heaven looks like. From his description you and I can only image how struck he must have been to experience such a sight. From the throne itself and all the flashing color to those present at the throne, all of it shouts of praise and worship.

As we looked at the experience John had and was recording for us, we cannot help but wonder how he felt seeing things no man has seen and then trying to put them into words others would comprehend. This struggle will be our constant companion from here on. Who are the 24 Elders and the 4 Creatures are just two of the many questions we will have and attempt to answer. But I remind you that regardless of the difficultly the main theme remains: this book is out to reveal Jesus.

Next week we shall see the scroll opened. Come and join us. If you think about it, invite someone to join you – everything wants to know what’s going to happen!
