Pastor's Weekly Recap, week of June 7, 2009

One of the most amazing things about you and I is that everyone of us is a unique creation of God. He made no carbon copies. And the reason why is to show each of us how much we matter to Him. We are starting out on a new journey to explore this wonderful creation of God called YOU! I hope you'll join us.

Family Recap for June 8, 2009

I was just reading last week’s opening line in the recap and I stated “summer is here.” Well I’m rethinking that statement. I think it has either passed us by or it is yet to come but it certainly isn’t here. Sorry about that!

We are off and running on a new series based upon CLASS 301 that we offer periodically but with an emphasis on how the creation of God called YOU impacts your daily life. Yesterday I began a series of looking at how God has put each of us together. Rick Warren refers to this as our SHAPE and we will be looking at each of the pieces individually over the summer. I cited several reasons why it is important for you and I to know just how God has created us. First it puts us at ease – no longer competing with others since each of us is a unique creation of God for a divine reason and purpose. Another reason I shared is that knowing how you have been put together helps you be successful in life in the sense that you are doing what God has designed for you that no one else can do.

The first component of our unique shape is that of our Spiritual Gift(s). In a couple of weeks I will be preaching on this topic and I will also be offering you the opportunity to take a Spiritual Gifts Inventory to assist you in identifying your particular gift(s). If you have never taken a gift inventory, I would encourage you to do so. In order to ensure we have enough inventories available you will need to register by contacting me by reply to this email – I will be ordering them on Wednesday or Thursday.

Wouldn’t it be great if each of us not only realized how God had put us together but were living and working accordingly? Think how fulfilling that would be, think how much pleasure God would realize knowing that His creation is working as He designed.
